The national standard specifies rivet nuts in sizes M3, M4, M5, M6, M8, M10, and M12. However, M6 and M8 are recommended. Smaller threads allow for direct tapping into the substrate, while larger threads significantly increase bolt weight, offering only a limited increase in connection strength compared to the rivet nut, making the fit less than ideal.
As seen above, rivet nuts can be widely used on aluminum alloy substrates of varying thicknesses or on steel plates with thicknesses ranging from 1 to 2.5 mm. In particular, steel rivet nuts eliminate the need for cumbersome internal steel plate embedding in aluminum alloy components, significantly improving manufacturability.
